Renowned cellist and researcher Iracema de Andrade has been selected for an artistic residency at EMS Elektronmusikstudion, one of Europe’s leading centers dedicated to electroacoustic music creation, located in Stockholm, Sweden.
During her 2025 residency at EMS, De Andrade developed new repertoire for the five-string electric cello and electronic media, exploring the intersection between performative gesture and modular synthesis. This residency is part of a series of international collaborations that consolidate her work as a pioneer in integrating the cello with contemporary technologies.
Founded in 1964, EMS has been the birthplace of significant innovations in experimental music, featuring state-of-the-art recording studios, analog synthesis systems, and an international artistic community. Iracema’s participation in this creative environment reaffirms her commitment to artistic research, avant-garde repertoire, and the dialogue between instrumental tradition and sonic experimentation.
